Difficult, but worth it!!
This is my new favorite series, and I'm disappointed that it had to end, but I'm picking up the manga where the series left off (around chapter 185 of Volume 19 is where the anime starts to differ a bit from the manga).
Story wise, there are a lot of characters who get pretty fleshed out. You come to want to root for almost everyone. There are twists and turns, and parts where I watched 5 episodes in one sitting, on the edge of my seat.
Language wise, it was difficult and I grew a lot watching this series. I watched on Netflix using the browser extensions ASBplayer and Yomitan to make looking up words a lot easier. The beginning of the series was harder than the latter half, because a lot of the technical vocabulary related to space gets repeated a lot.
Definitely recommend this if you're comfortable with slice of life shows in the mid to upper 20s and are looking for a long series to stretch your Japanese to the next level. Also, if you want a series that's not about kids in high school, with characters who have problems adults can relate to, I would also recommend this to you.
