Someone should really remind Soseki that he can add a period every now and then.

Despite that, this was a really fun story about a hotheaded city-slicker working as a teacher in Middle-of-Nowhere, Shikoku. It's got that classic literature vibe of a VERY unreliable and opinionated narrator. I’d recommend it to anyone who has a bit of reading experience and wants to try out some slightly older Japanese literature.

If you do decide to try it yourself, the blog below is an absolute lifesaver for understanding the confusing grammar and early 1900s references. It goes nearly line-by-line through the book, so any time you're unsure of what something means you can check yourself: https://ameblo.jp/kimi-nakamura-ken1102/theme-10063274188.html
