I don't know what I was expecting when I started watching this show, but it definitely exceeded anything that I had imagined at the outset.
The show does a really good job of somehow tonally balancing a cute girls doing things show with horror and suspense, and had a few twists that were well telegraphed with hindsight.
For language learning, almost all of the show is in simple, day to day language, but there is a plot point in the middle of the season where the characters were reading a document that I felt the need to rewatch with English subtitles. The language in that section was much more difficult and understanding what is said there was important for the rest of the season.
This felt like one of the rare gems of at my level but also something that I would have enjoyed even if it wasn't for language learning.
For anyone who is sensitive to character death, two characters do die during the series, although they are well alluded to if you are paying attention. Full disclosure, I cried during the last episode, and that is not common for me. I did feel like what made me cry was a bit cheap. It didn't detract from my enjoyment of the series though.
