Highs and lows of young love
This novel follows college student Nonoka ("Nono", 20) and working man Takumi ("Umi", 26)'s journey together. For Nono, it's her first time falling in love and she doesn't know how to act. Umi is comparably more experienced and aloof.
I liked this story overall. It was an incredibly easy read. It seems like it was first published on a cell phone novel site and won a prize to become a published work. I bought it just because of the cover, knowing nothing of the story beforehand. Keep in mind the Japanese summary of this book is the entirety of the book, so maybe avoid reading it if you don't want spoilers.
Since 季節 is in first person, it's often hard to tell whether or not Umi actually even liked Nono in the first place, as she sees everything he does in rose-colored glasses. Also, since the whole plot is written in the summary, I expected them to break up at 20%, 50% at the latest and the rest of the book would be about Nono grieving and moving on. No... the summary is IT. That's the plot.I did enjoy this book. I got through it in just a day, and I want more people to read it. If you're in the mood for a story about first love, definitely pick it up. It's written in super simple Japanese so probably even higher level beginners could get through it easily.
