Eva, a student in Vienna, is lonely and looking for love. She tries online dating, and of course there are lots of duds, but one day she starts chatting with a guy who shares the same interests as her. This mysterious stranger has an empty profile - no photo, no description, no real name... Is he married? Elderly? One of her professors? Maybe it's a woman?
Eva learns the man's name, but the other information remains a mystery. The two chat every day via emails and texts; the guy sends Eva money to have fun in the city, and she sends him pictures and videos of her adventures. But why doesn't he want to meet her? Although she's enjoying herself, Eva desperately wants to finally see the man she's falling in love with...
I admit it, once I got past the boring setup, I was actually drawn into the story, and desperately wanted to know what was going on. I had an inkling, which turned out to be correct: a computer had developed intelligence and started doing whatever it wanted, which in this case was online dating (and stealing money from banks to pay for dates).
More entertaining than the average graded reader, and high-quality accompanying audio.
