I wasn't totally sure what to make of this on reading it - I definitely felt like I was missing some information. I looked into it and it does seem like Dazai and Kawabata had some history and a 'love hate' relationship. For context, Kawabata is another famous author of the era, probably best known for 雪国.
Some older writing typical of Aozora, but it doesn't have that much in terms of old kanji and no archaic kana spellings.
