A very surreal absurdist style book. The author wakes up one day to find out she has become inanimate, and that all the objects in her house have become animate. Her bed is upset, her fridge is scared of her and her toilet is a gossip.
The opening of the book is obviously a pastiche of Kafka's Metamorphosis, if you enjoy stories like that or Théâtre de l'absurde type works then this will be for you. The author uses surrealism to explore feelings of personal identity, meaning in life, and self worth.
The vocabularly was largely comprised of familiar household words, but the sentences were so absurd and the meaning veiled behind metaphor that it was definitely a challenge to read as a learner.
Overall I enjoyed it, the author had a really lively writing style that I found compelling and it was completely different to anything else I've read in korean so far. (and as a bonus it had a positive ending!)
