Out of three Kakuta Mitsuyo novels i have read, this is probably my favorite. I like her books a lot. Her characters are always on the run from something, give into temptation instead of resisting it... always very relatable in the small everyday thoughts and insecurities she describes leading to certain extreme places. Easy to read, too.
