Easily the best japanese book I've ever read, would recommend to anyone who likes mystery. It's a large scale book set over a long period of time and containing a vast amount of characters, but the flow of the writing style creates effortless transitions between chapters and draws you in until you don't even realise how long it is. By the end I'd grown so invested in the world and mystery I didn't even notice it had finished until I turned the page and realised there wasn't any more. My tips would be to make sure to remember every character, especially their names. For this reason I wouldn't recommend it to a beginner who would be overwhelmed by all the names, or for someone who can't understand any kansai-ben. Even a brief read of common kansai-ben patterns should be enough for an intermediate learner to still enjoy the book however.
