I love the conclusion of the battle from last volume (one of the best in the series). It's really great how diplomatic Kagome is afterwards, trying pacify Kouga and Inuyasha (though she shouldn't have to). The way that sets the stage for Kagome later seeing Inuyasha and Kikyou's chance meeting is really well crafted. Especially since it causes Inuyasha to realize how unfair it is that he's hurting her b/c he can't abandon Kikyou. I really felt for both of them in the aftermath of that, and the way Kagome later confronts and resolves her own jealousy and insecurity is really profound (well beyond a normal 15 year old).
In general, I love how emotionally intelligent, mature, and tuned in the characters can be to each other's emotions (Miroku especially surprised me here, but even Shippou tries to help the situation). While Inuyasha still has a long way to go in terms of maturity, it's nice to see him make some progress. One thing I still don't get is why Kikyou doesn't just kill Naraku, or why (according to her) he has to be killed in such a particular way that only she is capable of.
