This is an abridged version of Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, translated into Japanese for kids. It's short (about 150 pages), the font size is gigantic, and all kanji have furigana (but as with most children's literature, there is not as much kanji as one might wish, so parsing long strings of hiragana can get a little tiresome).

This book is a bit more challenging than others in the series, due to slightly more advanced vocabulary — this is due both to the occasional flowery scenery descriptions and to the main character's penchant for poetic, obscure words. However, this doesn't make the book hard, by any means; the book includes footnotes to define the more unusual terminology. The adaptation itself is fine, hitting all the same important plot points as the full length book.

There's a surprising amount of world literature available translated into Japanese for kids, so if you like and are familiar with classic books like these, you may find them good material for beginner reading starting at upper N4.
