cute story with easy informal language
These books are the Korean translation of the Heartstopper series, originally written in English. It follows the love story of two boys who fall in love with each while struggling with coming out, mental health, friendships, and family. It is truly heartwarming seeing them figuring it all out.
The language is very accessible. Because of the Netflix series and the English books, the story is familiar to most and together with the pictures a high-beginner can easily follow-along with the story. I picked this up when I was a high-beginner and it was the perfect combination of learning informal spoken language and some new words. It brought me a lot of motivation that I could read an actual book so early on in my learning journey.
However, the cultural elements are missing due to it being a translated work. Especially, the 반말/존댓말 used in some situations was confusing to me.
Overall, I really recommend this if you are a high-beginner looking for something familiar and cute to read. If you are slightly scared to start reading manwha or books, this can be a good first step.
