A collection of 4 shorts (heavily imbalanced in length, one is 60+ % of the book while another is under 5) united by hypothesizing some sort of differing cultural values around life, death, birth, and sex. These premises vary in extremity from "birth 10 people to legally murder 1" to "what if 3 people dated" which can make some a little underwhelming, though there are usually standout scenes of violence or unpleasant and logistically confusing sex that make it hard to call this boring. Overall I fell into appreciation of ideas over total enjoyment a little too often to say I love it, as it teeters on the border of two ratings, but it's a solid read and high 3.
