This was the first time I read something by 江戸川乱歩, and I have to say that I was easily able to draw the connections between his writing and the writing of his idol, Edgar Allen Poe. Although the ending was somewhat predictable, the style was so enjoyable to read that it kept me hooked. Language wise, there was a lot of old/literary terms, keigo, and some political stuff, but I didn't have to look up too many words and it was easy to get used to. If you are used to this kind of writing I would say you should definitely read this story.
