In a welcome change, volume 3 dials back on teen romance a little bit. Once again there is adventure, intrigue, combat, world-building elements and attempts at tension.
Fundamentally the series is a situational comedy. The MC constantly makes wild leaps of logic and behavior to facilitate that. I want to call them "out of character", but honestly it's difficult to say what character she is even supposed to have. It's a completely different person from volume 1, which some readers might enjoy and some might not.
