A girl lives at the base of a huge tree. One day she notices a giant bird fly by and decides to climb the tree in order to see the bird again.

It's a short novel with full colour artwork on every page, so there's less text than the page number would indicate. Strong Studio Ghibli vibes, which makes sense, since the author was one of their animators.

There's little furigana, but short-ish sentences and I didn't notice any particularly difficult grammar. The illustrations also help with guessing the meaning of unknown vocabulary from context, so if you're confident in your kanji knowledge, this is something that you can give a try at about N4/N3 level.
