Wonderful!
I really enjoyed reading this! I initially picked it up for the WaniKani bookclub, but decided to read it later on because I found it a bit too difficult at the time, especially as I read the physical copy. I read it around 6 months later, as my 13th book rather than my 5th, which was definitely a wise decision. Overall, aside from around 1 word per page in lookups, I found this to be an accessible read.
The writing was gorgeous and I adored the atmosphere of the book - it was poignant, nostalgic, and often peppered with dark humor. Maria, Tsugumi, and the rest of the crew were all interesting, and while I didn't always love Tsugumi, I grew to like her quite a bit by the end of the book.
I'm very happy that I own this physically, because I definitely plan to reread it in the future! It was a case of right book, right time for me, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. 4.5 stars!
