This manga is set in the Taishou era, so it occasionally uses words, kanji, and even kana that aren't used much in the modern day. These don't appear that often, so this increases the difficulty a little, but not significantly. More of a factor in the difficulty is the historical references to how social structures were set up in this era, specifically around 五爵.
Other than the setting, the manga is fairly standard for a Kirara series. I would say it leans into drama a little more than most Kirara series, but it has some good laughs as well. The drama is fairly well done, and got better towards the end of the volume.
UPDATE: Having now read the whole series, I'm happy with how the plot progressed. It gets better with each volume, and at just four volumes it doesn't overstay its welcome.
