A stunning tale of two brothers born from tragedy and their frantic quest for meaning. This coming-of-age story evokes anger, sadness, and disgust as the two struggle in a world that lays bare the corrupt aspects of human nature.
I don't think this is a book for everyone, but it is a masterpiece for those that enjoy absurd and chaotic literature. There are many grotesque scenes, but if you can get past the first page it should be manageable. It may depend on the edition, but the kanji can be quite difficult and the lack of furigana(even with words such as 鸚鵡 and 玳瑁) made reading a physical copy very challenging. The writing style may also be difficult to digest at first, as there is a distinct lack of「」use and some wild imagery that made me doubt my own reading comprehension.
