Good read for language practice
We chose this book for a book club, mainly because we all knew the anime movie of the same title, so we thought it was easier to follow along than a story concept completely unknown to us.
It was interesting to find the many differences to the anime version, since the stories only loosely relate. Also, the book was a solid N3 level read in my opinion and learning the vocabulary (despite the fantasy related words) was helpful, as I realized afterwards that it often reappears in other school-related books and stories.
Personally, I didn't like the main character very much and could not identify with her at all. She is vastly different from what I anticipated and, in my opinion, the way she acts and behaves seems more appropriate for the mid-1900s than for the 21st century.
