I don't know what happened, but the author suddenly really improved in this volume. While I've enjoyed the previous volumes so far, this was the first one that felt like the story truly came into its element. It's also the first one where there's some proper adventuring, rather than just farming or completing a mission. It features a second party, full of some very eccentric characters. It also features some actual attempts at romance, rather than characters just being passively interested in each other, while never acting on it.

This book lacks the flaws of the previous books, and adds a lot of great character growth. We're presented with a party they now has a more diverse range of skills and equipment, and which is willing to take some more risks. We get to see some appreciation for the party members finally, and it's safe to say they gained some really valuable experience.

I wonder where the next book will go!
