Essential Source to Advanced Japanese Grammar
The Dictionary of Japanese Grammar series is simply the best grammar series I have ever come across in any language. The authors do an excellent job of combining complex linguistic explanations, complete with examples of both correct and incorrect sentences. Everything is easy to understand, and while the focus of this volume is clearly on advanced students (N1), upper intermediates (N2) will also find a home here.
One major nitpick I may have with this final volume is that it falls short of covering more intricate subjects such as journalistic or literary Japanese, grammatical variations in regional dialects, formal Keigo speech, or contemporary colloquial expressions commonly encountered in media or spoken by native speakers. It predominantly focuses on Tokyo standard content, which is considered safe but not quite as advanced as anticipated. Nonetheless, it remains a commendable and helpful resource.
