I used yomi-chan extensively and translated a few handfuls of sentences (using Deep-L if anyone is curious) in order to read this book. At the time, I don't think I was "supposed" to read this book, based on my then Japanese level. However, I still got through it in a reasonable amount of time (a few weeks - a month???), and I was still able to enjoy the story and fully understand everything (with help, as aforementioned) despite my struggles. I would certainly put this book in N1 in terms of vocabulary, especially in certain sections where long descriptions are given. However, I don't think the grammar was too difficult for the most part.
