Trying to avoid spoilers as best I can and focus on the learning aspects. I really enjoyed this with its unique characters, comic relief and unexpected twists at times. It's a one shot but even within that I felt you get a decent feel for the characters and their motivation. I already knew the story since I watched the anime last year, so it wasn't new to me. There is a slight deviation between the manga and anime right at the end of the manga but overall the story is near identical. This book covers the same storyline as the first 6 episodes of the anime.
There are a few war vocabulary used and some fantasy words (especially names for groups and peoples) but over all I felt it was very approachable. The grammar seems to be around N4 - lower N3 (maybe not even that complex) and there is a bit of slang accent thrown in as well as a few set phrases I hadn't heard before.
If you like following the antics of a rag tag bunch of misfits and seeing where their adventure leads, give it shot, you might like it 🙂
