My #1 Textbook Recommendation
The Marugoto series is one of the more fun and engaging textbook series I’ve come across in my learning.
The grammar explanations are easy to understand and easy to remember.
The topics are fun and interesting, ranging from more specific Japanese culture (Traveling to Kyoto/Okinawa) to broader topics like school and hobbies.
The fact that the entire A1, A2 and first part of the A2/B1 textbooks are available for free at the Japan Foundation’s website Minato-JF.JP with guided lessons makes it even better for those who are looking for a more guided learning experience.
I will always recommend these books to beginners and more advanced learners.
The only drawback is that their books end after B2, and do not go to the C1 and C2 levels. But beyond that there aren’t many downsides.
