The level of this book is very difficult to judge. For me it had pages that were far more difficult than level 29 (concerning vocab), with a maximum of 31 look-ups per page in the descriptive parts, that's e.g. more than for any page of 狼と香辛料 1. On the other hand, there were vast parts that were far easier than L29, with a minimum of no look-ups per page. This reads like what you could always say about a novel, but in this case it's extreme. All in all L29 is just the average difficulty I would say.
The book is a novelization of the movie written by its director with almost no original contents compared to the movie. That made me quite disappointed about the book and it had to struggle to earn its 3 stars. So after reading it I now understand that some people even seem to hate it. But if you don't know the movie it's probably OKish.
