Started reading with Doubts, I Ended Up Enjoying It Far More Than Expected!
Entertainment: Following a cataclysmic event during a fierce battle between a hero and a demon lord in a fantasy world, our protagonist, previously the most antisocial student in her class, finds herself reincarnated as a spider in a dungeon teeming with perilous creatures. Now at the bottom of the food chain, she must muster all her wits and will to survive in this unfamiliar world. The story unfolds from her perspective, punctuated by segments focusing on her classmates, who have also been reincarnated into various beings in this new world—some far luckier than our spider protagonist!
Language Learning: This light novel may not be the easiest in terms of vocabulary and grammar for beginners. The heroine speaks in a very "modern" way, using expressions that, while familiar, can be intricate and playful with words. There's also a significant amount of video game and RPG-related terminology, especially regarding skills, which I believe presents the most considerable vocabulary challenge as it's easy to get lost.
Overall: I started reading with a fair amount of skepticism, mainly due to the protagonist being a spider—a choice that wouldn't typically draw me in, given my preference for more "traditional" isekai like SAO, considering the limited number of light novels I could read. But I was pleasantly surprised! The pacing is engaging, and the spider protagonist's approach to events and her dialogue are genuinely entertaining. She faces daunting challenges with a positive attitude, quickly endearing herself to the reader and eliciting empathy for her plight. What particularly captivated me was the RPG-like progression of the spider, tracking her level ups, skill acquisitions, and titles, making it feel like playing a live RPG. I was eager to see how her abilities would develop and how she would evolve. The labyrinth setting is diverse and intriguing, enhancing the story's appeal. I immediately dove into Volume 2, eager to see what happens next. Highly recommended!
