STARember's work is just so beautiful
This is the translation of the manhua adaptation of the danmei (BL) webnovel Heaven Official's Blessing, and my god is it pretty. The artist, STARember, does a fantastic job with the art. I'm already familiar with the story and came for the art alone, and it was worth it.
For those not familiar, HOB (or TGCF, to use the abbreviation of the Chinese title) is a xianxia story following Xie Lian, a fallen god recently let back into the celestial realm, and the mysterious Hua Cheng, a ghost king who has some sort of connection with him. This volume covers the ghost bridegroom arc; while it does cut some story, I thought the cuts were done extremely well, and nothing of import was really lost.
It's a good thing the art is so pretty, because the reading level is quite high for a manga. While the text density isn't all that high, there are quite a few genre-specific terms tossed in; the Japanese even has footnotes on occasion explaining the term to readers. There's very little furigana, and as far as I can tell the name use their original hanzi with just a Japanese pronunciation gloss to the side, which can make remembering the readings tricky. The grammar at least was not all that difficult; it's mostly the vocab that's going to be the stumbling block for a lot of people.
