This is probably the most unique season of Sailor Moon... and it's a vast improvement from S4. it comes out swinging heavily in its first 6 or so episodes, before settling into (sorta) the usual groove. As usual the main plot is really spread out, and then there's another sprint at the end. However the pacing and plot distribution is much better overall. There is also substantially less filler.
For better or worse, I watched 美少女戦士セーラームーンCosmos | L28 (covers like the last 3/4s of this season) and parts of 美少女戦士セーラームーンEternal (covers like the first 1/4) beforehand - which definitely prepared me for a lot of the twists and surprises in this season. While there's various things I prefer about Cosmos overall (the first time I've said that about Crystal so far), this version definitely makes up for it with the slice of life content (though I have my share of criticisms too). The monsters are a bit more interesting this time around too. I was kinda iffy on the ending personally, but it's alright.
Overall this show was an incredible watch, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the manga, and slowly watching Crystal. Honestly I might even go back and check out various filler eps I skipped along the way. I know I'll definitely come back and rewatch everything sometime in the future.
