Ok but not as interesting as a Japanese book
Japanese translation of Diary of a Wimpy Kid, a children’s book set in America and popular among 8-11 year olds. The one I picked up turned out to be volume 4.
Advantages for a learner - low text density per page, lots of pictures which support understanding the text, short story arcs, relatively humorous. You can see why it’s popular with kids.
Main disadvantage is that it is a bit dull reading a translation of an English work set in America, it’s much more fun to read something originally written in Japanese and set in Japanese culture.
Also the kanji used are limited to those at a more primary school level, meaning some words you’d normally expect to be written in kanji are written in hiragana. This makes some sentences harder to parse.
