finally something exciting
I found this story while scrolling the toplist for LNs on mal. It sounded like an interesting setup for a normal battle fantasy style story. But this isn't really a battle fantasy. It is pretty much a thriller taking place in a common japanese fantasy setting (the one where heroes have to go vanquish the demon lord). And honestly its a pretty good thriller, it has lots of twist and a constant air of tension about it.
This story really managed to hook me after I got past the half way point, I just had to know whodunnit. Parts of the mystery were as impossible for the reader to figure out on their own as they were for the MC. But for the final conclusion all clues were already described prior, making for a great reveal.
I really liked it a lot and would've rated it 5/5 if it was juuust a little better. One thing that wasn't that interesting were the characters aside from the MC. If you have seen a couple anime you already know them, they are kinda generic archetypes.
basic premise (the setup)
Every time the evil god reawakens 6 heroes are chosen to seal it again. Problem is this time there are 7, so one of them is an imposter. Also there is a barrier locking all of them in which can only be lifted by unveiling or killing the imposter. All signs point to MC being the imposter. Now he has to fend of deadly attacks while at the same time investigating what really happened.
