A definite improvement over the last one, in terms of pacing, fleshing out the world and magic system (which thankfully avoids getting infodump-y), having some new characters, some nice suspenseful moments, and giving the characters some more direction. There's a few interesting twists here and there. Personally I could have done with turning up the romance levels a bit more, but the amount that's there is still pretty satisfying.
