Eight short stories, each between 20 and 40 pages or so. The two weakest are set in the US and attempt to portray inner-city life. The stories set in Japan are more captivating. Sex, loneliness, outcasts, and nostalgia are frequent themes. I found the last story about a boy and schoolteacher who don't see eye-to-eye to be particularly well-done.
