Great for language learning, but science truly aimed at young kids
As most people reading this review are not children, I based my rating from the perspective of an adult language learner, despite being a children's book. As a non-child, you might find that this is a "mystery novel" with very little to no mystery. The science involved is basically common sense, except for some extra details added in the explanations. Minor spoiler: The "mysteries" are based off of scientific misunderstandings, so there are basically no hidden motives to sniff out, which makes it extra dull.
The book is entirely furigana. From a language learning perspective, I think it's perfect for an intermediate learner, as the science-related explanations offer chances to see some grammar and vocabulary that you might not otherwise see at this level.
