Despite it's age a very modern book...
This book is not telling a story. It's 100% character-driven and shows glimpses of the character's lives. Despite being written in the 90s (and some of the language is very much not pc), it has surprisingly modern views on relationships. The female character is dealing with mental illness (and self-medicating with alcohol) and this book does not - like many others - suddenly cure her or even improve her condition. People around her simply take her as she is, which is refreshing.
While I liked the book, it's not something that will remain with me.
