Would have loved this book as a kid

Overall, I'd really recommend this one. The story was fun (it's about a mystery of missing candy) and the book uses pretty standard Japanese (i.e. not a lot of baby talk) which makes it good for learners. It also basically has built in reading comprehension exercises because the detective will ask for your help every now and then in choosing what he should do. Lots of pictures and not a ton of text make the book less tiring as well. I'm almost all the way through Genki 2 and didn't have any issues with comprehending this story. There were words I had to look up, but I didn't feel lost.
