It's quite a choice to have a 16 person competition, where we get backstory for each character, starting in volume 2. I'm having a bit of trouble caring about the various characters, and I don't really care for getting all the side characters backstory so early in the story (I dislike too much backstory in general, bc it gets kinda disruptive). I hope we'll get more focus on the romantic development between the main couple next volume, since they were separated almost this entire volume.
