Enjoyable Narnia story
The Magician’s Nephew is chronologically the first Narnia story, although not the first to be published. It’s generally recommended as the first book to read in the series.
The story starts in London in 1900, and tells the story of two children, Digory and Polly. They find themselves magically transported to other worlds, including Narnia, where adventures await.
It’s quite a fun story and has some connections to “The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe” if you are already a fan of that book. It moves on at a reasonable pace. The language is generally straightforward, lots of description of events and basic dialogue rather than abstract concepts.
I think this is a good book for those who have read graded readers, or books aimed at younger children, who want to move on to something more challenging, but aren’t ready for books aimed at adults yet.
