Usually by the second volume of a series, I've generally gotten accustomed to the language quirks and that seemed to be the case here, but volume 2 of Furi-San introduces a new character who's obsessed with Yakuza stories and uses a lot of that vocab, but she repeats the same words very frequently and I'd gotten on fine by the end of her introductory chapter.

Since the introductions and setup are out of the way, the story really grows here and I think it's really in volume 2 that I became hooked on these characters. Taira himself is still a bit of a flat character (which might be intentional given that his name and the kanji used to spell it literally mean flat), but the cast around him is so vibrant and fun you kind of forget about his shortcomings. I really got into a good flow reading this volume after the hurdle of the new character and actually became immersed in the story. I like that the "don't judge someone by their looks" theme isn't just applied to Furi-san, but also seems to be present in every character. It's just a positive, feel-good story that lets everyone operate at their best and I'm sure some kind of inconvenience or misunderstanding is bound to pop up eventually, but I really like how generally nice everything is.
