Not a typical story— the author was divorcing her husband when he committed suicide. The man she loathed and wished dead actually died— leaving her confused and caring for their four children.
This isn’t as heavy a book I expected. The author is matter of fact and expresses herself well. It didn’t seem she was hiding the ugly parts of herself, and her husband.
The book isn’t only about dealing with the loss of a man she pretty much hated, but it was about being a parent, being a spouse, being a person who’s been through a tragedy. The author shares her struggles to make ends meet, to let go of her anger and jealousy that he chose suicide, and how sharing her struggles may help others.
At times I empathized with her, at times I couldn’t understand her reactions, but in the end I was glad she got the help she needed and is now set on helping those like her.
I listened to this as an audiobook, so I won’t speak on grammar/vocab too much. I found it easy to follow, but some vocab words may be a bit specific. I had to stop and search a couple words while listening.
