Silly but I enjoyed it
So, the premise here is "girl enters Edo samurai lord's household to be a maidservant to the lord's wife, only to find out that the lord's wife is a cat shapechanged into a human". It is definitely more interested in being silly fun than in having and advancing a coherent plot, so whether you like it will depend on whether you get on with the style of humour or bounce off it. Personally I enjoyed it.
Language difficulties: the underlying language/grammar is not particularly difficult, but you do have to deal with a combination of historical-fiction vocab and speech styles, characters with funny ways of speaking (one character peppers his speech with English words written in hiragana, for instance), and the odd bit of wordplay. The first three lines of the book are the start of a letter in sourou style, but that's not representative, so don't worry about that.
