Could not recommend this enough as a first manga for beginners.
This is not my first manga, but I wish I found this earlier during the beginning of my reading immersion journey. As I have only read 3 volumes, this is just a general review so far.
The pacing and style are very cinematic, the unsettling and perverse undertones making it tense and, for me, really hard to stop reading when I start. Happiness has a very similar tone to Oshimi’s other works, which you’ll either love or hate. I’d really suggest to look up the manga and its themes before reading, as I imagine there’s quite a few triggers for people in this series.
With not much dialogue in comparison to a lot of other manga, it makes it an extremely quick and easy read, or, a great manga for beginners as it requires a lot less strain and effort to get through.
As an intermediate learner, it’s a great manga for low effort chill reading, as you rarely need to use a dictionary to look up words.
