A lovely opening to a bleak world
魔女のエデン is set in what's basically a post-apocalyptic world: nature was once in harmony until humans' influence began destroying things. Seeing this, the plants of the world (called アムル; they appear to be at least somewhat sentient) retreated from sight, along with most animals. Only special humans who can "hear" the アムル live in harmony with them, and such humans are called 魔女. Our protagonist ピリー is one such human, and after a brush with one of the authorities that who who hunt witches, she sets off on a journey to find the mythical Eden; she's accompanied by a reluctant wolf-plant hybrid named オーク.
The art style makes good use of blacks and whites, giving the volume a very stark feeling. Text density is generally quite low, but the mangaka did a fantastic job with characters' expressions, leading to some very heartfelt moments.
No furigana is given, but the vocabulary used isn't deep or anything, and the grammar felt quite easy as well; N3 while dipping it's toes into N2.
