A relatively light and easy read
Despite being a spin-off novel targeted at a younger audience, the story manages to tow the line between being entertaining and accessible. The pacing could have been a bit faster, however I imagine a native reader would be able to finish in at least half the time it took me, so it's most likely just my pace.
As for it's value as a learning resource: the grammar is incredibly simple and straight-forward, but the vocabulary in some sections can range from a few uncommon words, to very obscure (I would recommend a pop-up dictionary to help speed those sections along if possible). If you're into sentence/vocab mining, there's lots of common words and phrases to pick out; just make sure you go in with a frequency list and don't be afraid to skip the rare words.
