Fun stories in the DGM universe
The first D. Gray-man reverse light novel is a collection of three short stories in one volume, each with a different main character from the D. Gray-man manga series: Allen in the first (before he joins the Black Order), Kanda in the second (on a mission for the Black Order), and Bak Chang in the third (visiting the main branch of the Black Order). While I don't know how canon these stories are, I enjoyed each one; the settings were varied, the story setups were interesting, and it was fun to follow different protagonists.
The words used in the book did a great job painting a scene in my mind as I read, though in turn I had to look up quite a bit in the early sections of the book until I got into the swing of things. In contrast, the grammar felt quite simple, maybe N3 level.
Would definitely recommend to all D. Gray-man fans out there for extra content to enjoy while we wait for the main manga to be updated. There's also awesome illustrations by Hoshino herself scattered through the book!
