I highly recommend this as one of the first real books learners read. Compared to other books I have read/tried reading, because this is non-fiction, it's quite a bit easier to follow. It's also adapted from a series of blog entries, so it's pretty simple language. I followed along with a generated audio and read it surprisingly quickly.
In terms of story, there's a lot of repetition, which is great for learning, but can be a bit boring. Those familiar with FFXIV will be able to understand the game concepts being expressed fairly easily, though it may be a bit tedious to read page long descriptions of raids (though interesting).
The TV show acts as a solid companion and is different enough to still be interesting to book readers.
Great entry level book
