This book is written in a very simple and easy way (short sentences, repeated vocabulary) and is less like a children's book and more like a YA SF/fantasy/mystery book.
Also, words that are usually in kanji are written in kanji, and there's less kana than in other 角川つばさ文庫 books. It also has full furigana.
So it can be entertaining for adults as well, and is great for learners in many ways. That said, it does get a little convoluted towards the end, and when I looked up reviews in Japanese, it seemed like even native speakers were a bit confused. But I just didn't give it too much thought and it was fine.
