The adventuring in the Dusk Realm reaches its greatest heights (figuratively and literally). There's interactions with multiple groups of supporting characters, including some of the big names, adding a vibrancy that's been largely missing so far. The twist at the end felt a bit oddly executed, but in those moments... the author finally learned the power of summary, a quite welcome addition.
All that is to say, this book is much more interesting and full of action than the previous volumes, and the writing has definitely improved as well. The author still hasn't learned the value of breaking up a battle into separate chapters (as evidenced by the 115 page extended battle), but the writing has definitely improves (and the next volume starts up pretty interestingly as well)
