This is a moving coming-of-age story about a boy who can't feel emotions, and what happens when he meets another boy who arguably feels too much. I loved all of the characters, especially the main character's mom and grandmother. The plot is a mixture of slice-of-life and deep, deep tragedy. My only complaint is that the ending felt a bit rushed.
This book was harder than expected. I knew most of the vocabulary, but there were some poetic turns of phrase that required some re-reading. Also, one of the characters curses profusely (which is a positive? I guess? I learned a lot of new curse words haha) There's also a section in which hanja are used to help describe emotions to the main character, which are also new to me.
Highly recommended!
