Sick lit with a manic pixie dream girl...
...and an autistic MC? (I can't read him as anything but. The MC does not dislike people, he just literally doesn't know how to related/connect to them.)
I don't mind books about people dealing with illness, but if the whole point of the illness is to have an easy plot twist and to force character development, it's annoying. Also: the last third of the book was completely unnecessary, boring blah blah.
I recommend the movie over the book. I found the movie much easier to stomach.
I think the audiobook is great, though, and the female voice actor is great at making the female MC sound as obnoxious as the story makes her out to be.
